While the fighting between rebels and government forces have decreased in intensity Sunday evening in the capital of Chad, N’Djamena, the national radio and the general market were looted. The clashes have claimed hundreds of lives, including civilians, while the exodus of foreigners continues.
According to BBC’s Stephanie Hancock, who has covered Chad for the past two years, the rebels accuse President Deby “of favouring members of his Zagawa clan, who make up less than 3% of Chad’s population, above other citizens.”
