Small News

We do a lot of search everyday, but do we always get the results that we are looking for, or are we shown results that should not be.
I am not talking about the SPONSOR ads but normal search results.
Google use a complex system of judging which site to be shown first and etc, the same goes for Yahoo and Live(MSN).But what i want to point out here is the results that is shown to use not a manipulate one?
Doing a small search for the keyword News on these three search engines have made me perplex.Why?
Simply because the results vary, but not much.On Google the 1st is BBC News, 2nd CNN on Yahoo 1st is CNN and 2nd FoxNews.So far so good but on Live 1St is MSNBC and 2nd CNN.

So how can a site which is part of Microsoft give in the 1st place a News site which is also part of Microsoft?Is there some human intervetion on the Live.com results?
Hope i can get a fair explanation on that!
